Assists patients and families to find appropriate sources to pay hospital bills, such as Medicaid, Charity Care, Family Care, and/or existing loanprograms.Refers patients to appropriate state or country programs for financial assistance. Determines required deposits, and follows up to make sure payments were made. Reviews and either approves or denies completed charity care application. Interview patients at bed side to determine financial status. Documents in the system all interaction with patients to insure proper follow up by the business office once the patient is discharged. Performs all duties assigned by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Financial Counseling experience strongly preferred. Minimum of three years of relevant experience such as Healthcare billing, collections or financial counseling or equivalent. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and utilize Government Programs and alternate payor sources (Workers Compensation, Third Party, No Fault, etc). Demonstrated ability in patient registration, admissions and billing practice. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Must be flexible to various locations in Medical Center including patient bedside consultations and rotate weekends and holidays.Primary hours 12 noon- 8 pm (Requires flexibilility to cover alternate hours as assigned). Must be ahigh school graduate. Some college or degree preferred. Strong customer service experience from a fast-paced environment desirable.
